Being in the grey doesn’t get anything accomplished and impeeds those who are trying to and feel strongly about it. It is best you vote not to vote and let Mom and Dad take care of you. Otherwise you may end up voting for someone who looks cool or who the media wants you to vote for. I think if you took the time to really analyze a discussion and look at both sides from multiple perspectives you would come to a realization which is best. Most news, media and papers are for one party as they have been for a long time. However, I am sure you will stand in the middle and wait to see who wins and then whine either way without ever offering a solution.

Go for more and be confident with yourself and discover your morals and beliefs. Identify who you are and don’t just be a shade of grey.

I completely disagree with Rich. I quite enjoyed reading this post, Tobsy, and found it quite valuable. Making an important decision in a time of crisis/need (and therefore having to choose between black, white, and grey) is not the same as acknowledging that NONE of these issues are ever black or white. Being secure and comfortable with yourself ALLOWS you to see this, and then consider all angles before making a hard decision. People who see only in black and white are the foolish, insecure ones; and unfortunately, more often than not, they’re the ones in political power.

I tend to be grey myself. It is just too hard to be one way or the other on all topics. If there wasn’t a grey, I don’t think that politics would even exist.

I’m in the middle on several issues. I am an animal advocate, but own a gun (and think you should be able to). Liberal on some issues, conservative on others. There is no black and white, just shades of grey.

I have to agree that I refuse to be pigeon holed. Extremism is generally an evil game, and often you will find those that hold such veiws are being controlled by forces they are not aware of.

O.K., in all seriousness, how can so many of us agree with you, and yet the black or white, wrong or right club is still so strong? I count myself in the middle ground very often myself-there are SOOO many viewpoints on any given issue! What is it about this middle ground that people find so hard to hear-or do they hear it at all. I often wonder.

The majority are in the middle. That is why Presidents drift towards the center once they are in office.

The older I grow, the more I realize what I don’t know–it’s quite humbling. But sometimes you have to make a decision or hold an opinion and stand by it. This is what leaders do. The problem is when they are clearly wrong. Everyone has the capacity to make bad decisions, we can only realize what we have done and try to make amends.

It’s smoke and mirrors, keep thinking with your own brain.

Hey, If I were to follow you with grey block, then you’re also limiting my options. There might be another choices. But yes, two choice is not good. It can turn out into a false dilemma.

I don’t know if media thinks that is the way to better ratings, but the radio talk shows for sure are that way, setting the tone of a whole hour show by starting out with an extreme view completely on one side and basically challenging anyone to deny them.

Nowadays, when I turn on the news, I get the same feeling I got in the classrooms. There doesn’t seem to be room for interpretation, analysis or a variety of different opinions. Everything has become pro/con.

This article is so true. To be honest, I find that people with the highest intelligence tend to stay away from ‘definites’ and ‘blacks and whites’. I can never fully commit to any debate side, and always appreciate the oppositions input.

Sometimes, we have to make a stand. This is very much needed to unite the people. How can we move towards one goal if some of us do it half-heartedly? That is why if there is a question, with a yes or no answer plus their specifics, you need to choose.

I understand that we all our own experience of being on the grey. I was like you too, I hated debates. I never couldn’t stand on one side because there will always be something about the arguments that is contradictory to my beliefs. However,there will come a time that you will be left with two choices. And when that happens, you cannot afford to be in the grey.

So much so that I have realized for a long time now that gray has become a very attractive physical color for me. why do modern engineers & scientists prefer binary number system to other number systems although we have so many number systems & most importantly binary number system is not found in nature? Secondly, although the human mind can comprehend much higher(read: more complex) number systems then why can’t we design digital systems on such higher platforms?…. Then I went to secondary school (at least I think that’s what Americans would call it). There the teachers wanted to teach us to discuss issues like grown-ups do. Collect arguments, sort them in a pro/contra scheme, then debate on them. My problem: Never was one side a clear winner. It might work for the arguments, but the whole topics are not that easy. I hated it. I won these debates, but till this day I don’t like the pro/con idea.
