I love: The sheer beauty and diversity of the American countryside

Hawaii, Alaska, California, Maine – four names you just have to read and *poof* an image pops up in your head. Become an icicle in the north or get barbecued in the south. There are regions in the US, where you can drive for hours without seeing a single house. That’s nearly impossible in Germany.

Americans are often criticized for not traveling to other countries. While I think it is idiotic to not care about the rest of the world, I really understand why you don’t go there. Why would you? You can stay in your country and visit the Grand Canyon and the Niagara Falls. Yellowstone and Yosemite National Park are waiting for you. And that are just natural sites. Go see the Statue of Liberty, the White House, Mount Rushmore, the Hoover Dam or Kennedy Space Center. And while you’re doing it – everybody speaks the same language as you (well, most of them).

So, although I think that you should always keep an eye on what happens in the rest of the world – when you’re looking for beauty, get your ass outside and have a look around.
